DIY GIFT IDEAS FROM THE HEART

Posted by Angela @ farragio on Thursday, December 3, 2015 Under: christmas

While you're racing around this holiday season trying to find the right gifts, remember that the ones that have the most value are the ones that come from the heart.

Hanging on my bulletin board in my studio/office is a magazine clipping from ¬©Family Circle I saved years ago.  It has great gift ideas from Meghan (Yudes) Meyers that don't have to break the bank but are sure to be invaluable to your recipients.

DIY Gift Ideas from the Heart
  • Write a poem for a loved one.  Roll it up like a scroll and tie it with a pretty ribbon.
  • Sketch or paint a scene or portrait and frame it in an inexpensive frame.
  • Send a video of a family gathering to relatives who couldn't be there.
  • Decorate blank stationery with a woodblock stamp and give the stamp with the gift.
  • Iron a decorative transfer script or design onto a set of pillowcases.  Transfers are available at most crafts or fabric stores.
  • Make a gift cookbook by decorating the front of a three-ring binder and fill with family recipes and photos.
  • Decorate terra-cotta flowerpots with colored markers and fill them with homemade flower-shaped cookies.
  • Make a CD of someone's favorite music or new music you think they'd like.
  • Have a special photo screened onto a tote bag or laminated onto a mug or plate at a local copy shop.
  • Decorate drinking glasses with dishwasher-safe paints, available at most craft stores.
