A friend of mine was looking for inexpensive alternatives for replacing her carpet and while doing a search online ran across something called "paper bag flooring".

As she was telling me about it I thought it sounded really intriguing. I'm not at the stage yet where I'm ready to replace my carpet (although with two dogs and two kids we're getting there pretty fast), but I did a search on it myself to see what it was all about.

While searching, I came across Rachael Evans' blog "Lovely Crafty Home", and the name fits perfectly.  It's a lovely blog with wonderful crafty DIY projects.  Her post on paper bag flooring is one of the best I have found.

She gives a detailed list of supplies you'll need and step-by-step instructions on how to tackle the project.

(If you've ever decoupaged something, you'll probably find the process very similar.)
