The Art of Being Alone

Posted by Angela @ farragio on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, In : life home family

a-lone [uh-lohn]: separate, apart, or isolated from others: I want to be alone.

It seems the difference between being alone and being lonely could be that one is by choice, the other is not.  The key is figuring out which one to choose.

Breaking With Tradition

Posted by Angela @farragio on Sunday, November 18, 2012, In : life home family

Holiday traditions are special and fun, but if you have to do something different every year that can become a tradition itself.  Growing up my family always had the Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving dinner with grandparents, parents, and us kids gathered around the table sharing love and laughter.  When I got married my husband and I moved to Alaska for his station of duty and so we had to improvise and gather around the table with newly made friends.  And through the years we've found ourselves ...

Ray of hope

Posted by Angela @ farragio on Friday, July 20, 2012, In : life home family

I'm not sure how many days of 100+ degree weather we've had.  I could research it, but the heat's made me kind of lazy, and I don't think I want to know the answer anyway.

It also has been weeks since we've had rain.  Possibly even months.  I could research that, too, but I definitely don't want to know the answer to that.  And really all I have to do is look at our yard for the answer.....

Posted by Angela @ farragio on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, In : life home family

It has been said that the word “fear” could really be an acronym for “false expectations appearing real”; meaning that what we fear usually isn’t as bad as we think.

But what happens when those expectations turn out to be as we expected?

When facing a new challenge or situation I try to first stop and think, “What is the worst that can happen?”  Then I think about what would be the best way to handle it.

Most times my worst fears are never realized, but if on the rare occasion the ...

Lessons On & Off The Court

Posted by Angela @ farragio on Saturday, April 28, 2012, In : life home family

I started taking tennis lessons about four years ago and from the moment I stepped onto the court I was hooked.  Obsessed is more like it.  I ♥ tennis.

Here are some lessons learned on the court that can also carry over into everyday life:
  1. Never take anyone for granted.
  2. Don't be afraid to try a different approach.
  3. Sometimes it's good to be aggressive.
  4. Don't let mistakes keep you from trying.
  5. When dealing with unpleasant people, keep your cool.
  6. Always have a backup plan.
  7. Know where t...
