Bike Ride

Posted by Angela @ farragio on Sunday, October 28, 2012, In : travel

My husband and I like to find interesting local bike trails to go riding on.  The trail we took along the Mississippi River didn't disappoint.

We took a little detour and climbed down to the river's edge and saw this barge tied to the bank.  We were tempted to climb onboard but didn't have bail money on us so we figured we'd better stay out of trouble.

The barge was anchored to the hillside in a most interesting way.  The cable latched on to a chain that came right out of the hillside.

Ray of hope

I'm not sure how many days of 100+ degree weather we've had.  I could research it, but the heat's made me kind of lazy, and I don't think I want to know the answer anyway.

It also has been weeks since we've had rain.  Possibly even months.  I could research that, too, but I definitely don't want to know the answer to that.  And really all I have to do is look at our yard for the answer.....

Weekend Trip

Posted by Angela @ farragio on Monday, May 7, 2012, In : travel

My husband and I took a trip recently to Warrensburg, Missouri.

The best way to get to Warrensburg is by train. They have a quaint train station right in the middle of town.

This is their beautiful county courthouse, built in 1898.  The statue is of "Old Drum", beloved dog of Sen. George Graham Vest back in the 1870's.

Their main street is so picturesque.

Downtown Warrensburg is a throwback to when towns had "blue laws" and nothing was open on Sundays.

A Fun Day At The Winery

Posted by Angela @ farragio on Friday, May 4, 2012, In : travel

We recently got together with some friends at Persimmon Ridge Winery.  It's a great little winery tucked away in the woods, a real hidden gem.

The road leading to the winery makes for an interesting drive.  Lots of local color.

The entrance to the winery is beautiful.

It's fun driving right through the vineyards and getting a close-up look.

They have a great selection of wines.  My favorite is the Norton, a distinctive, dry red wine made from Missouri's state grape.

The winery allows snacks to be...
